**Definition of Excellence**

Excellence is about contributing our best to the world while evoking others to do the same. It's about understanding our place and making our mark in the world, as we attempt to make it a better place. Excellence is about contribution and honoring others as we move forward towards our vision².

**Characteristics of Excellence**

The Excellent Professional exhibits an intrinsic knowledge of the difference between right and wrong, shows the courage to act upon that knowledge, and embodies the following ethical characteristics:

• Respect for self, others, and the environment.
• Empathy.
• Integrity¹.

**Examples of Excellence in Different Fields**

- In sports: Michael Jordan is considered one of the greatest basketball players of all time due to his exceptional skills and achievements².

- In science: Marie Curie was a physicist and chemist who conducted pioneering research on radioactivity. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize².

- In music: Ludwig van Beethoven was a German composer and pianist who is widely regarded as one of the greatest composers in the history of Western music².
